Good Afternoon, Students and Families of Philomath Elementary School:

I promise that this is the last e-mail I will send to you today! I am trying to work through the end of this year and plan for the beginning of the next school year. With the current year coming to a close so rapidly, I have felt the need to jump on a few things. Items already e-mailed today include:

• May Character Trait Assembly Links
• 2020-2021 Parent Input Form (1st-4th grade students)

Principal's Reading Challenge:
It is officially on! I have attached the school calendar for use this summer. The Philomath Community Library will also have a calendar. Blodgett Elementary School, Clemens Primary School, and Philomath Elementary School will accept either the school or the library calendar for entry in the challenge. Be sure to get your reading in this summer!

A video explaining the challenge will be loaded soon. The link will be shared with you as soon as complete.

Summer Book Fair:
We're having a Summer Read-a-Palooza Virtual Book Fair! You can support our school while discovering favorite characters, series, and collections all summer long. Orders are delivered right to your doorstep, allowing you to take advantage of FREE shipping on book-only orders over $25. Visit the homepage at

Last Day of School:
Thursday, June 11th, is the last day of school for the 2019-2020 school year. We are planning a drive-thru process to allow for student recognition, (primarily 5th grade), to be handed out and for other items to be returned to school. We will be collecting borrowed Chromebooks, text books, library books, instruments, etc… We will also be collecting final school work on this day.

We will be distributing end-of-year certificates to our 5th graders, a memorable keepsake, and Yearbooks… if they arrive on time.

School Work:
Although we know it is getting harder and harder, please encourage your child to stay attentive to their school work. Our staff have commented that they are seeing less student activity in these past few weeks. We know—and appreciate—the job you have taken on to work with your child(ren). Just a little bit longer!

2020-2021 School Supplies:
As in the prior few school years, PES will be offering the opportunity for families to purchase school supplies. This year, we will be working with a company, 1st Day School Supplies. Ordered supplies, specific to the needs of each PES grade level, will be sent directly to the school. They will be waiting on your child’s desk in the fall. Orders can be placed at
https://1stdayschoolsupplies.com/list.php?school_zip=97370

Although you will see the word fundraiser in the information, Philomath Elementary School has opted to purchase items at cost. As a result, the school will not be raising any additional funds through your purchase. The order deadline is July 1st.

As always, you are free to purchase your own supplies if you would prefer.

Next Year:
As I mentioned at the first of this note, we are working to wrap up this school year while attempting to make plans for the upcoming school year. At this time, we do not exactly know what that will look like or what changes will need to take place to have students in our schools. We are planning for a variety of scenarios. In the next week or so, you will receive a survey from the Philomath School District asking for your input as we continue planning.

Let's finish strong—still learning together!

Susan
